Written Exam, 2 hours Open Book – two questions:

One linking wider reading to a given extract
On one the Set poetry text: The World’s Wife - Carol Ann Duffy 60% (30% of AS+A2)

Unit 2: Creative Study: Option C: The Struggle For Identity In Modern Literature

Prose Set Text, Drama Set Text + Wider Reading

Two pieces of Coursework, 2500 words in total:

A personal informed response to The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood, either a creative interpretation or creative transformational writing
A piece of writing on Top Girls – Caryl Churchill, focusing on the text in context and aspects such as theme, structure, characterisation 40% (20% of A2+A2)

Unit 3: Reading for Meaning: Love Through The Ages

Four unseen extracts for close study, comparison and critical commentary

Written Exam, 2 hours 30 minutes (closed Book). Two compulsory questions:

One comparing two extracts of the same genre, with close reading of the texts and reference to the wider reading of love poetry
One comparing two extracts, using wider reading of love through literature to inform interpretations
30% of A2

          Unit 4: Extended Essay and Shakespeare Study
                  A Shakespeare Play + two other texts of any genre
One extended comparative essay of 3000 words                       20% of A2
