Welcome to the Catholic Sixth Form Consortium.
Since 2000, when we decided to pool our resources with Cardinal Hinsley to officially form the Catholic Sixth Form Consortium, we have had a thriving joint Sixth Form at the Convent of Jesus and Mary. We provide a dedicated, co-educational, post 16 Catholic education for students in both schools and for other students wishing to join us in Years 12 and 13.
We have a dedicated Sixth Form block that incorporates a large supervised study room with a suite of computers; a vocational studies room and a common room with a large social area and meeting room.
Our primary purpose is to equip all of our students with the confidence to achieve their academic goals allied to strong personal and social development, whilst providing a positive structure in which the pupils can work towards maximising their potential and achieving the best qualifications they can.
We offer courses at both intermediate and advanced levels and are proud of our students’ successes at both levels. The foundations for our success are:
- Our high expectations of students;
- Our continuing development of the best practices in teaching and learning;
- The target setting, close tutorial monitoring and support we provide for the individual student.
We offer all our students a thorough programme of guidance and personal support throughout their time in the sixth form; from team building activities in the first weeks of the sixth form to planning their finances for the first term at university. RE is a core subject in all students’ programmes and this supports their spiritual and moral development, we also have a full-time chaplain as another port of call available to discuss problems.
We offer further opportunities for our students to broaden their horizons and to use their initiative in taking on roles of leadership. Through a range of experiences, both school-based and reaching out to the wider community we aim to develop the confidence of each individual student in readiness for the greater challenges ahead. This is done through our Enrichment programme which offers the student opportunities which include: Community based placements, fund raising for charities, international visits to places such as China and Germany and our annual pilgrimage to Lourdes.
