From January 1st 2020 to December 31st 2020, Brent is London’s Borough of Culture (LBOC).
Culture, the Arts and creativity will be at the forefront of our work for a whole year. The focus is on exploring ‘Where Are We’, ‘Who Are We’ and ‘How Do We Live’ and ‘Where Have We Come From?’
The curriculum here at the Convent is going to encompass special LBOC projects across different subject areas. English lessons in some KS3 classes will involve a walk around Harlesden to look at locations for writing a descriptive gothic story. MFL will showcase some Spanish poetry writing and performances and work on National Refugee week. The Maths department will be carrying out surveys about family heritage and analysing the statistics, as well as looking at traditional family recipes. Art lessons will work with professional photographers to create special exhibitions, as well as linking with local primary schools on an African Art project and exhibition. In the Drama Department students will create poetry pieces about Brent for performance at our Arts Festival.
The list goes on and on…
Parents can check out our website in the new year for regular blogs, pictures and updates.
In July 2020 we will be holding out first ever Arts Festival Week at the Convent. This will be an opportunity for our school family to come together with professional artists, performers and creatives. The day will be an exciting event with performances, workshops and exhibitions. The work you see will be from both professionals, up and coming artists, our students and local primary schools.
