Retreats & Reflections

It is essential to the Catholic ethos of our school that we provide opportunity for all members of our community to grow spiritually as well as academically, and to have an awareness of putting their academic and other achievements into God’s service.

All Key Stage 3 pupils (Years 7, 8 and 9) take part in a whole-day retreat in our on-site retreat centre, St Claudine’s House, led by the Chaplain.

In the 2010 / 2011 academic year, the Year 7 Retreat was entitled ‘We are called to be Saints’ and was based on the homily given by Pope Benedict XVI to pupils of Catholic Schools at St Mary’s College, Twickenham during his September 2010 visit to the UK. Year 8’s retreat followed the theme of ‘Mary & Discipleship’, and the Year 9 retreat was themed on 'Conscience'.

Other times of reflection in the chapel focussed on the themes of ‘The Nativity’, ‘Spiritual Journey’ and ‘Covenant’.

During Lent 2011, all Key Stage 3 pupils also followed the Stations of the Cross around a route set out through the grounds of the school.
